Screening “The Kid” – Charlie Chaplin and “Sherlock Jr.” – Buster Keaton

27/01/2016admin

The Masters of Silence series —

Doclab is proud to present Charlie Chaplin’s The Kid and Buster Keaton’s Sherlock Jr.
Among the best works of the two masters, the films also stand as the finest examples of silent comedy.

Charlie Chaplin has been a household name since his persona The Tramp hit the movie screen. In The Kid, the Tramp finds and cares for an abandoned child, but events put that relationship in jeopardy.

Perhaps slightly less well-known but no less respected than Chaplin, Buster Keaton was another comic genius of the silent era. In Sherlock Jr., he is a film projectionist who longs to be a detective. As fate would have it, he is accused of stealing a watch from his lover’s home. Discouraged and heartbroken, he returns to the theater. What will he do next?

*This showing is part of the Master of Silence series, a new film series focusing on silent cinema.

In turn, the series belong to a new screening program at Doclab. The program includes topics such as: Cinema & Literature; Aspects of Filmmaking, and Auteur.
